LONDON: Pop beauty Beyoncé risks a fresh row over her skin colour after releasing this photo — making her look whiter than ever before, reported British daily The Sun on Saturday.
The blonde-wigged singer is almost unrecognisable in the latest promo shot for her album 4.
Experts said the pale appearance was most likely down to the lighting. But the 30-year-old is sure to have known the snap would be controversial after previous bust-ups.
Before last year's Grammys the singer, married to rapper Jay-Z, was criticised for being so pale she made some young black girls ashamed of how they looked.
In 2008 cosmetic giant L'Oreal were accused of digitally "whitewashing" the star in a 2008 advert.
And before that it was alleged her dad had persuaded her to use skin treatments to remain the lightest-coloured member of Destiny's Child.
She also appears pale in some scenes from one of her latest videos, Countdown.
Beyoncé — born and raised in Texas by her African father and mixed-race mother — gave birth to her first child last Saturday in New York.
She and Jay-Z named their new daughter Blue Ivy.
