NEPAGUNJ: At least three persons died and more than two hundred persons are suffering due to the deadly diarrhea outbreak in Nepalgung on Thursday.
According to focal person Ram Bahadur Chanda at District Public Health (DPH) office Banke, Jasmin Halwai and Talia Halwai of Nepalgunj Municipality and Kalawati Budhathoki, 65, of Tulsipur, Dang were killed by the disease.
Talia and Jasmin died in their home and Budhathoki breathed her last during the course of treatment at Nepagunj Teaching Hospital.
Mainly the people of Ward No 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 14 of Nepalgunj Minicipality have been affected by the diarrhea. The patients have been receiving the treatment in different hospitals - government and private hospitals including Bheri Zonal Hospital, according to DPH.
“There are 158 patients admitted in Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital this afternoon. All the patients have been admitted in the hospitals and the DPH has mobilised the health workers for patients in their homes also,” informed Chand.
The DPHO Banke has mobilised a team led by Dr Upendra Regmi to provide health services. Floods had affected Nepalgunj a week earlier. The people are consuming contaminated water and food and therefore they have been affected in these areas, said DPH, adding, it will launch awareness programmes for the people on diarrhea.

I want to inform the nepal government that in such polluted nand congested environment .......just implement the drastic and effective awereness programme to save the life of all ......our nepali .....people....
