BIRATNAGAR: Many prominent figures from Biratnagar today demanded to make their city the federal capital by forming a separate state for the region, east of Koshi River.
Locals from all walks of life formed a 51-member struggle committee and planned to organise different agitation programmes to press for their demand. Representatives of political parties – the UML, NC, including the local civil society and over a dozen organisations, who participated in today’s discussion, have decided to hold different agitations from tomorrow.
According to the NC district secretary Yadu Bista, as part of the agitation a bike rally will be held tomorrow in Biratnagar followed by a big rally the next day.
“We will continue agitation if our demands are not addressed,” Bista said.
