KATHMANDU: Norman Vincent Peale in his famous book The Power of Positive Thinking mentions ‘Calm mind generates power’. What he meant is that one must achieve a calm mind to be able to make correct decisions that guide us towards fruitful results. Mind management discusses this point a level deeper, such as the works of the mind, the birthplace of thoughts and the manufacturing process of mental barriers.
In today’s world, there are many variations to leadership. However, people are usually astonished when I mention in my seminars that all the skills mentioned above are greatly inter-linked. Without effective communication, a team is ineffective. A leader, then, is
undoubtedly the one who practices right communication through proper presentation.
This quality has to come from a stress-free mind.
Top management thinkers of today, according to Forbes, talk about one thing in common — the right attitude. This again is a product of the mind.
Repeatedly doing the right thing requires a sharp, healthy mind. The only key to ultimate self-development is understanding the workings of our mind. World famous concepts such as NLP, appreciative enquiry or even seven habits are various forms of tools to address this very
phenomenon called mind.
How you can benefit
The goal of mind management is to make us aware of our mind patterns that dominate much of our life. Time management programmes are in a great demand in the corporate world today. Yet, the same participants return to that very program-me in just a few months’
time. This is because without addressing the deep rooted patterns of our mind, no transformation can be attained.
Great innovations, formulae, strategies and solutions are but ideas. For this reason, movies like ‘Matrix’, ‘Avatar’ and other animated movies are shown in various workshops. They broaden the horizons of our imagi-nation, refine our thoughts and amplify the magnanimity of our spirit. You may be surprised that the song played in Westernised tune at the end of the movie ‘Matrix Reloaded’ is our very own chant ‘Asatoma sadgamaya…’
The relation that this absolutely computerised story has with the Vedic chant is incredible. If you desire to accomplish a mind capacity that produces such ground breaking ideas or even great solutions, you must make sure your mind is in a state of perfect equ-
animity. This does not mean that most people who have invented or have become successful are in harmony with their
being. Some people choose to exercise enormous negative force to achieve instant results but in the end, it calls for
a huge pay off.
What does it offer?
An individual who understands this marvellous system can literally become anything he or she most desires. While offering a
secret key to our intellect, mind management can also show the path to our personal fulfilment through spiritual values. However,
this would be an advanced stage that one is required to reach. As Marianne Williamson said, “Our deepest fear is that we are powerful
beyond measure; it is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.”
