It has not been long since Nepal has started Internet services. But its use has grown so rapidly nowdays.Yaa! its true that due to the use of inter there has been excessive increment in the crime zones and the adolescents citing the pornographies. And the government should make some effort to stop this. But from other point of view it becomes right to explore the information for the people. So the situation itself is a controversy.

yes I agree that internet is getting popular as well as being more and more harmful for social life because of some people the whole internet user are getting blamed. It is so shame that people have reached down to that level that because of their activities government is forced to controlmonitor the usage of internet. With the growing technology we have lots of social network which in one hand helping us to be in touch with our friends and family but still because of misuse of these program lots of people are getting in trouble as well. In one hand it sounds like this step of government is really curbing people's right but from other hand if this step of government can reduce the crime then the step has to be taken without any delay.

This is the 21st century, century of the modern technology. most of all but the internet is gaining more popularity day by day. It is being more popular mostly because of the different social sites like facebook, twitter, myspace etc. I agree that in the name of internet most of the criminal activities is done but its not good idea to stop these social sites, its responsibility of cyber crime department to check who have done those illegal activities and punish them. Just by controlling the internet it will not stop, but they change the way of doing these things as there is proverb in Nepali "Khane mukh lai junga le checkdaina". hence we must control the people who do this not the things by which they do.

The world of communication is changing and so are people with their flourishing thoughts. Each individual has the desire to tackle and access what is ongoing around them; to absorb information that is processing on. Social networking and blogging have become a day-to-day activity to the people. Blocking or monitoring certain sites won't let or minimize the authority general public have on this innovative age, but will create a level of harshness to the government. Nepal – undeveloped for ages and still on sporadic span have already controlled from: water, electricity, roads, and telecommunications, and so forth. It would be only possible, if the government delivers internet as the water or electricity supply has been in recent years, reserving specific schedule. And if such encounters, it would just be brain sick and just insane. Social issues such as poverty, starvation, human trafficking, corruption, and domestic violence should be restrained. But, no, these aspects aren't inspected or checked over. The government should identify why crime rates and pornography are increasing to high extent. Crime and pornography both results to dangerous trend and creates negative impact on society.Job opportunities, industries, investment, education etc should be elevated so that people have less time to think about the dreadful activities. Prevention and persecution should be applied before hand. The clock starts; it’s time to re-think!

True Colour Of Internet & Right Judgment Of Government. The Internet is a worldwide system of computer networks - a network of networks in which users at any one computer can, if they have permission, get information from any other computer. It has its origins in military and academic projects, but began to be more widely available from the end of the 1980s. The creation of the World Wide Web and web browsers gave ordinary people easy ways of getting around the internet. Over the past fifteen years, millions of different websites have set up, giving people the chance to shop, do business, play, learn and communicate online. Over the same period it has become much easier, cheaper and faster to get online in order to do these things. In the world today, more than 26.7% of people have access to the internet. These figures are growing rapidly, especially with the arrival of powerful new mobile phones that can access the internet. The internet has brought greater prosperity, allowing lots of different businesses to set up online. This has brought a lot more choice to ordinary people, and also driven down prices as people find it easier to compare different companies’ products. Small businesses can cheaply set up online and find a market for their goods and services. And by making it easier to work anywhere with an internet connection, it has allowed many more people to work from home and to share out projects with co-workers over the whole world The arrival of internet has greatly changed the way in which people search and have access to information. News travels faster than ever, and current affairs can be discussed on online forums with people from all over the world. Search machines like Google and Wikipedia are a commonly used starting point for researching essays and other school tasks. Many people maintain social contacts through sites like Facebook, MSN and MySpace. We can talk to each other via chat rooms, and look at each other’s pictures, while we listen to an artist’s latest song in the background. Some research estimates that adults in the US spend about 13 hours and teens about 31 hours online each week. Other research shows that most of that time is used for social contacts. Some have argued that all this time spend online cannot be healthy, whereas other have cheered the increased possibilities for research, meeting new people and keeping in contact with each other. On the other hand, it has also created many detriments. For instance, there is a higher risk that some of the facts or quotations in an article written in a particular website are false. Whereas newspapers might lose customers if people find out they gave been ‘selling lies’ so, news and views shown in the net may not be more reliable than in any other sources like newspapers. Counterfeit is a serious and subsisting problem that the whole world including our country is facing today due to internet. Similarly, pornography is a very serious issue concerning the internet, especially when it comes to young children. There are thousands of pornographic sites on the internet that can be easily found and can be a detriment to letting children use the internet .Likewise there is another problem spamming which means sending unsolicited e-mails in bulk, which serve no purpose and unnecessarily clog up the entire system. These have made every nation failure to develop. That’s why; the government of our country is in the process of reducing the usage of internet. It is obviously good to control such illegal activities happening but it is also the fact that inaccessibility to it can be a great cause of backwardness and it will hamper the progress of every citizen. So, the authorized persons should block the unnecessary sites and find out the main leaders behind the spamming and disposing ones right. Cut in short, the government should afford to control the disadvantages of usage of net with keeping the benefits of it in their mind. Also the every local person who uses it should know its correct use and never go against the rule while using it. This effort made by both side the users and the service provider will surely wipe out the current problems regarding net.

i think the people who think they are the heads of the country n tries to run the government and the country by hook or crook are simply gone out of their mind..dont they know that the world is changing rapidly.media is the most powerful equipment to change the social people and the society.so how can they hold the human right to information and of course the internet????i dont think this step is effective to control the crime.copy of crime may b a tiny part but there are lots of advantages that can really develop our nation..i personallt is the crazy fan of internet because it gives me knowlege and answer of my every question and quieries.infact people should be encouraged towards the internet.a 2 year kid can use the internet in forgein country and look at our condition....i feel so shame.so i request to the authoriters to think it more seriously and do the best right judgement.

The Internet has greatly revoulisionsed the way people in the today's world do their own business. The Internet is the latest and most shopiticated discovery in the techonology sector that has significant role in almost everywhere. For instance, people can work and do their own business from home or anywhere in the world. They can save their time by doing their shoping online and have stuffs delivered to their home. Banks, and most other businesses and orgainisation now totlally denpend on the Internet. The impact has been even more dramatic for the social networking context. In the past people had to correspond from one part of the world to another via mail and it used to take several days or months to complete the communication process. They were unware of the things for long time, that had occured between them. But things are different now. One can make friends of another part of the world easily because of the Internet. It is easy and convenient for people to keep in touch with family and friends living in the different part of the world, through the social networking sites. However, a coin has two sides. Terroists and other unethical businesses like porn sites have been using use the Internet too, which has become the serious cause of social unrest and increased crimes in the country. Despite these in the name of minimising the criminal activities, the goverment should not moniter the usage of internet as the advantages benefiting people clearly outweigh the disadvantages, and people should not deprive of getting information at all, as it is against the democracy's basic norms. Instead, the government can adopt other measures in order to control criminal activities such as introducing effective cyber law.

Question

The usage of Internet is getting popular day by day and Nepal is not an exception. While more and more people are getting used to social networks, blogging and other social media, the government is attempting to control the usage of internet in the country citing increase in crime and pornography as the major reasons. Do you think the government should control/moniter the usage of Internet to minimise criminal activities? Or is it a step to curb people’s right to information? Why?
