KATHMANDU: Agitating activities of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) gheraoed the building of the Kantipur FM in Pulchowk on Sunday dissenting that that the news disseminated by the FM is bias and prevents objective consideration of the issue.
What is seen as an incident of attack on free press, bandh enforcers and supporters of NEWIN thronged the premises of the Kantipur FM and ranted slogans against the media.
NEFIN has enforced a dawn to dusk strike today to press the government and political parties for ethnic federalism and to incorporate the rights of indigenous nationalities in the new statute.
Though NEFIN had directed its cadres not to obstruct press, ambulance, and vehicles of diplomatic missions during the course of bandh, an unruly gang vandalised vehicles of Kantipur Television at Jorpati and Naya Baneshwor.
Demonstrators pelted stones at the vehicle of Avenues TV at Chabahil and Tinchule.
Bandh supporters also burnt a motorcycle( Ba 20 Pa 3899) belonging to the cameraman of the Himalaya TV, Y P Ghimire, at Gwarko in the morning.
Agitators also manhandled reporters of The Kathmandu Post Pranab Kharel and Ankit Adhikari at Sankhamul.
