Water voyage begins in Lumbini

BUTWAL: On the occasion of Lumbini Visit Year 2012, an attractive boat ride has begun in Lumbini.
Water voyage for tourists began at the one kilometer long central canal inside the Lumbini master plan area on Thursday.
Boat ride in the canal had begun during the first world Buddhist conference held in Lumbini in 1998. But since then lack of water in the canal had not made such a voyage possible.
Inaugurating the boat ride, Minister for Culture and President of Lumbini Development Trust, Gopal Kiranti expressed the confidence that it would become a source of attraction for domestic and foreign tourists visiting Lumbini.
Tourists in Lumbini can now take a boat ride starting near the bus park through the central canal.
Also on Thursday, Minister Kiranti inaugurated the Lumbini Welcome Gate constructed at Ramawapur on the Bhairahawa-Lumbini road section.
