POKHARA: The seventh VOW Top 10 College Women 2010 which awards outstanding female students in different levels was held at the Hotel Pokhara Grand in Pokhara on May 14. Charu Chadha, corporate associate editor of Voice of Women (VOW) magazine, expressed her happiness for being able to organised the event for the first time outside
Bidhya Sharma of Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) was selected as the most outstanding student of the year out of more than 1000 contestants from across the nation. In the +2 category Sirjana Tiwari of St Mary’s College, Susmita Basnet of Nursing Campus, Biratnagar and Bheda Khadka of Rato Bangala School were selected the most outstanding students. Likewise, Preska Udas of St Xavier’s College, Rupali Sarawagi of Kathmandu College of Management and Sumati Maharjan of Kathmandu University School of Arts were
declared the outstanding students of Bachelors’ level. While the students awarded in the Masters’ level are Nilima Raut of Ratna Rajya Laxmi
Campus, Prerana Dhakhwa of Kathmandu University School of Management and Ushma Pande of Ace Institute of Management.
Each winner received a trophy, Rs 10,000 cash and gift hamper. A team of 12 judges including Rajendra Sharma, Seema Golchha and Nisha Adhikari among others had selected the outstanding students on the basis of leadership experience, involvement in college and community activities, excellence in the field of study and individual goals.
The emcee for the event Rabin Sharma entertained the audience with witty questions like what other cities in the country should learn from Pokhara and how would Machhapuchhre respond while it did not find its own image in Phewa lake.
The event also saw different women achievers like Rinchen Yonjan and Miss Nepal 2010 Sadichha Shrestha, First runner up of Miss Nepal 2009 Hricha Thapa and Hausala Thapa who has been working for the welfare of children sharing their life
