US delegation tours Ilam organic tea factories

ILAM: A delegation of tea entrepreneurs of USA visited two orthodox (organic) tea factories based in east Ilam on Sunday.
The 10-member delegation led by Executive Vice-President of Tea Association of America, Peter Garji visited the Gorkha Tea Estate at Fikkal-3 and Nepal Green and Specialty Tea Pvt. Ltd in Pashupatinagar-8.
Manager of the Gorkha Tea Estate, Uday Chapagain said that the team had arrived here for an on-the-spot study in connection with selling Nepali tea in American markets.
The delegation had taken information about tea from Ilam, conducted tests for taste and visited planted tea saplings.
A cultural programme was also organised to welcome the team, said Chapagain.
Similarly, the delegation also visited the Green and Specialty Tea Pvt. Ltd. The delegation tested the tastes of different green teas produced by the company.
Founder of the company Dilip Rai said that the delegation had taken information on tea production.
Tea expert Chandra Bhusan Subba said that market of organic tea of Ilam was good in foreign countries.
Subba said that the team had come to Nepal to carry out studies on how to introduce Nepalese tea in American markets.
