BUTWAL: Vice Chairman of the CPN-UML Bamdev Gautam said the UML is ready to opt for any alternative for national consensus if the Constituent Assembly (CA) election in May was ensured.
But, leadership under current Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, and chief coalition partners of the government of the Unified CPN-Maoist, and United Democratic Madhesi Front was not acceptable at any cost, said UML leader Gautam.
Speaking at a press conference organised by Press Chautari Nepal, Rupandehi chapter, he said leadership for the election government from the UCPN-Maoist and UDMF was not acceptable for they have pushed the nation to the current political crisis.
UML leader Gautam said the Nepali Congress had declared party President Sushil Koirala as a candidate for Prime Minister as the UCPN-Maoist urged for the same but the Maoist leaders created obstruction later when other parties forged consensus for NC leader Koirala.
He said there was no alternative to opposition parties of defeating the UCPN-Maoist totalitarianism and urged one and all to join the protests.
