KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-UML, Jhalanath Khanal, has said the first task after the conclusion of peace process and promulgation of new constitution would be to hold the local body elections.The local body, the backbone of national development, must be made strong and effective, he said, adding that civic elections will be prioritised to make local bodies effective.
In a telephone conversation with the party representatives from Doti district from his residence, Dallu today, Khanal said expressed confidence that constitution-making will speed up after the conclusion of peace process, according to his aide Ram Babu Adhikari.
On the occasion, Seti-Mahakali state committee member of the UCPN-Maoist complained that the high-level commission on restructuring of the state had done injustice to the Far-Western region.
Chairman Khanal is to continue telephone conversation with representatives of political parties, intellectuals and civil society from districts till the conclusion of peace process and constitution writing.
