UCPNM rakes up flag controversy

KATHMANDU: Fresh discontent among the political parties has surfaced and this time it’s over the national flag. In a subcommittee meeting that comes under constitutional council Wednesday, leaders from Nepali Congress, UML, UCPN-Maoist and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party were divided on the issue of changing the national flag. UCPN-Maoist’s idea to change the national flag was opposed by the other parties attending the meeting. Leaders from NC, UML and NWPP defended the present flag as it has become a symbol of recognition even in the international level. Meanwhile, UCPN-Maoist argued that it would be appropriate to represent the different states on the flag once the country is divided into different states.

wake up...we have had had enough of all...how long do u think u can continue with thes gimmicks.We want development...economy has to rise...maternal mortality has to come down.We dont need a change just for a change.What will happen when u change the flag?Will the country prosper? Maoist Lawmakers, Please don't ruin the unique identity of the country. You have ruined nationality, national dress, stability, security, peace and prosperity of the Nation as NC and UML did in the past. Maoist are not any different than those monkeys and don't try to confuse poor Nepalese People saying you are turning Nepal into a Singapore in South Asia. I always appreciated Maoist fight for equality and justice for poor people. Although I am a well off person, I voted them for their fight. Now Nepal lost so many things because of Maoists: kingdom, Hindu nation by constitution; Madhesi fight for Hindi. Now they are taking of changing our national flag as well. Never ever is it possible for these Maoists --- some are real criminal cadres --- to change our identity. Maoists should pay heavy price if so is allowed without people's verdict. I did'd think the national flag of Nepal represent certain cast creed and religion or the manarchial system.It is quite unlike and unique flag in the world. so it shoul not be change.I think who want to change the flag of nepal should have to change their mis conception abou flag. This is the worst thing I have every heard of. The flag has been recognized by the international community for along time and that is how we are recognized. I request all Nepalese to rise now and resist the terroist Prachnda and his group from chaning our national flag. This flag is the symbol of unification of nepal, in which are so proud to the citizen.This flag has given recognization all the world. What is this bullshit..? I think after living 10 years in jungle, MB are now mentally retard. There position is "Pagal khana" not parliament...Have any one heard of changing flag after every new govt. any where in the world ? Now I really doubt the qualification of prachanda and bhattrai. Illiterate people can think far better than these MB's. It mass appeal to all Nepali that plz plz ...oppose this move unanimously and boycott MB. May be His Majesty The King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev should have done the excat thing the Srilankan Government did to the Tamil Tigers. But unfortunately we the Nepalese being the peace lover, he did not do anything and now look at the situation, where we are ? in the stone age.
