KATHMANDU: The UCPN-Maoist has decided to intensify talks with oppositions over the unity government formation.
Headquarters meeting of the UCPN-M, held at the residence of UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Lazimpat on Wednesday morning took decision to this effect.
“Today’s meeting decided to continue holding bilateral, tripartite, and quadrilateral talks with major political parties for ending the present political deadlock,” said one of the vice-chairmen of the UCPN-Maoist Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
“As Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have just arrived Kathmandu wrapping up their national conclave, we will intensify talks on unity government from tomorrow.”
NC has said that the new government should be formed under its leadership.
Maoists have also said that they would exhibit maximum flexibility over the contentious issues including the new election, while sitting for talks with oppositions.
UCPN-M and the oppositions are at bad terms since the incumbent government led by Maoists took ‘an unilateral decision’ to dissolve the Constituent Assembly, 'merely to worsen the situation with political and constitutional hurdles'.
