KATHMANDU: The UCPN-Maoist on Wednesday decided to form a 175-member General Convention Organising Committee (GCOC) with its Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal as its coordinator.
Party Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma told the media that tomorrow's meeting of the central office—comprising of chairman, two vice chairmen and secretary— will nominate the members and make decision regarding the work division in the GCOC.
According to the party sources, it is likely that incharges and deputy incharges of all the state committees will be reshuffled tomorrow.
The Maoist plenum held in Kathmandu had dissolved the party's Central Committee and decided to form the GCOC with an understanding to incoporate more representatives from Dalit, Muslim, Madhesi communities, women and senior leaders of the party in it. Now, 60 members will be added in the GCOC.
The party is scheduled to convene its first ever general convention by mid-Febuary 2103 as per the decision of its seventh plenum.
