RAUTAHAT: Locals of Judibela VDC in Rautahat have been terrorised after a herd of five elephants entered the human settlement last night, leaving a trail of destruction. The tuskers destroyed houses belonging to Hem Bahadur Yogi and Juddha Bahadur Magar and also damaged maize fields and tobacco grown on 12 kattha land. The tuskers also damaged the wall of Sthaniya Lower Secondary School in Asanawa tole.

Truck-hit kills biker

BARA: Motorcycle rider Raj Kumar Ghishing, 35, of Barahathawa, Sarlahi, died after a truck hit the motorbike he was riding on the East-West highway at Nijgadh in Bara on Thursday. The truck was heading to Dharan from Hetauda and the bike was also moving in the same direction. Ghishing died on the way to a local medical facility. A critically injured pillion rider Chhilanath Dahal, 32, of Paurahi, was referred to National Medical College in Itiyahi after primary treatment in Nijgadh.

Tipper injures two

BUTWAL: Narayan Baral, 38, and Badri Thapa, 28, of Shankar Nagar, Rupandehi were injured when a tipper knocked the motorcycle they were riding in Butwal on Thursday. Baral’s left and Thapa’s right leg have been severed. They were airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment. — HNS

Minor electrocuted

TAULIHAWA: Manita Kohar, 14, an Indian national, died on the spot due to electric shock at her aunt Kamala Kohar’s house in Dumra, Kapilvastu, on Thursday. Kamala was injured while attempting to rescue Manita. She is being treated at Bhairahawa-based Universal College of Medical Sciences.
