Tusker terror in Kailali VDCs

DHANGADHI: Local residents in various VDCs on the foothills of the north-eastern parts of Kailali have been terrorised by a herd of wild elephants for the past one month.The wild tuskers destroyed paddy in seven bighas of land in more than 10 places in Thebe and Jhiraukha of Pahalmanpur VDC, and Khallakhet and Janakpur of Ramshikhar VDC, farmers said. The elephants numbering about 30 frequently show up in the village and eat paddy and pull down houses. Consequently, local farmers have been forced to spend their nights awake beating plates and drums to shoo away the beasts, said Nirak Bam of Pahalmanpur.
