Trishuli Hospital equipped with ARV centre

NUWAKOT: People infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in Nuwakot district have now no compulsion to visit to Kathmandu for taking medicines with the operation of an Anti Retro Viral (ARV) Centre in the Trishuli Hospital.

HIV-infected people here are to get ARV medicines free of cost from the center. Acting Chief District Officer Santosh Poudel inaugurated the center today.

According to data provided by the Trishuli Plus, an organisation involved in the drive against HIV/ AIDS in the district for a long time, presently 107 HIV-infected are taking ARV medicines in the district.

So far, 314 people are found with HIV in the district. Meanwhile, the District Health Office Trishuli has distributed Rs 1.47 million to those women visiting the hospital for safe delivery in the last fiscal year.

Though 1,153 women had had a safe delivery in the hospital in the period, only 1,013 had received the allowance due to budgetary constraint, said the hospital source.

The government provides Rs.1,000 as transport fare to those women having a safe delivery in the birthing centers operated by the government
