KATHMANDU: A meeting of the big three parties- UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML has been scheduled to find a way out of the present political stalemate on Wednesday.
According to sources, the main political parties are in a hectic mode to resolve the political deadlock after the meeting between NC president Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal held earlier in Singapore on Tuesday. It is reported that the duo had agreed to form a high level political mechanism to seek a middle path for a broad political consensus which it is believed will address the agendas raised by the agitating main opposition party the Maoists. The Maoists have been preparing for the third phase of agitation in order to correct the move of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on the Army Chief Rookmangud Katawal and restore civilian supremacy. All Parliamentary businesses have been halted due to the Maoist protest in the House and even the budget of the fiscal year of 2009/2010 has not been passed.
Meanwhile, Dahal and Koirala are scheduled to return on Wednesday and Sunday respectively.
