KATHMANDU: Despite going down 3-2 at the hands of Nepal Army Club (NAC) in the curtain closer match, the league champions Three Star Club (TSC) sealed the title of the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull ‘A’ Division Super League, at the Dasharath Stadium, on Monday.
After playing the last match, the Patan-based club stamped their authority in the coveted league by grabbing the title and bagging a lucrative purse of Rs 7.5 million.
TSC finished the league on a high note with 43 points and a chance to represent Nepal in the AFC President’s Club slated from May 7-11in Kathmandu.
Earlier, The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had awarded the hosting rights of 2013 AFC President’s Cup Qualifiers to All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
Santosh Nepali, Tek Budhathoki and Bharat Khawas scored for the Army Club. For the TSC Santosh Sahukhala managed a brace.
In the league standings, Nepal Army Club managed third position with 39 points and Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club (LH MMC) secured the second spot with 41 points.
The runners-up LH MMC pocketed Rs 3.5 million and Nepal Army raked in Rs 1.5 million.
Friends Club finished fourth, New Road Team managed fifth, sixth position went to the NMB Machhindra FC, Nepal Police Club were seventh and RCT were at the bottom.
