BHAKTAPUR: Thousands of devotees have been thronging in the Doleswor Mahadev Temple, said to be the head of Kedarnath temple of India situated at Sipadol VDC of Bhaktapur, since early morning.
The road to the temple has been obstructed due to maximum pressure of vehicles as devotees thronged. Metropolitan Police Circle Jagate has assigned teams with security personnel for security after devotees drastically increased.
Local volunteers are facing hard times as the queue to the temple reached two kms since morning.
There is a large throng since the start of the month of Saun (Jul-Aug.), a holy month for pilgrims, said Temple Management Committee Acting Chairman Kiran Thapa.
This year devotees increased by 200 percent in Saun as compared to last year and although they throng each day, in this month, Saturday and Mondays get more than three folds devotees, he said.
In Saturdays and Mondays, more than 1,000 reserved vehicles come and road is jammed, and two roads are run one way, said Jagate Police Inspector Madanraj Thapa.
Meanwhile, a week-long Shiva Puran Mahayagya is also started in the Doleswor Mahadev Temple.
The Mahayagya was organized to pray for the departed soul of those who died in the floods a few months ago in Kedarnath temple of India.
Earlier, a Swahacharak Rudrabhishek Rudri and Hawan devoted to Lord Shiva concluded in the temple for the eternal peace to the souls of those who died in Kedaranth in India and Darchula in Nepal.
The event was organized jointly by Sanhitashastri Arjun Prasad Banstola and Bharat Jangam of the Doleswor Jangam Math, where Chairman of the Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi had also sent offerings for worship.
Banstola said the event was organized for peace of the humans and creatures that died in the floods.
