Taskforce finds consensus; awaits Friday's SC for finalization

KATHMANDU: A meeting of a taskforce formed under the Special Committee (for supervision, integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants) forged consensus on the outstanding issues attached to the integration process on Thursday.
The meeting which took place at the Special Committee's secretariat office, inside the Constituent Assembly (CA) in New Baneshwor forged an agreement on the structure of directorate general to be formed under the Nepal Army (NA), and the mechanism to select Maoist combatants for integration.
Today’s meeting of the four-member panel formed under the prime minister-led Special Committee however left the task of finalization of the resolved issues to the Friday meeting of the Special Committee, slated to be attended by the big guns.
The panel includes Barshaman Pun of the UCPN-Maoist, Minendra Rijal of Nepali Congress, Bhim Rawal of CPN-UML and Jitendra Dev of MJF-D.
