KATHMANDU: A four-member team, including two sportspersons, has left for the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh to represent Nepal in the 9th Junior World Taekwondo championship, on Monday.
Sarita Shrestha and Namuna Pokharel of Bijeswori Gyanmandir School of Rupandehi will participate in the 44 kg and 46 kg weight group respectively in the championship that will be held from April 4 to 8.
According to the Nepal Taekwondo Association, taekwondo players from some 200 countries will be taking part in the championship.
President of the association Prakash Shumsher Rana and General Secretary Deepraj Gurung will be accompanying the sportspersons as team leader and trainer respectively. Rana and Gurung will also participate in the general assembly of the Federation of World Taekwondo.
This is the first time that the junior Taekwondo players are participating in the international event, said chairman of the association Rana.
