DHARAN: Kishor Budhathoki, reporter of The Himalayan Times and its sister publication Annapurna Post, was attacked by a group of assailants with a sharp weapon at Khandbari Municipality-10 in Sankhuwasabha district at around 9 pm on Thursday.
Budhathoki, who is reported to be in critical condition, has been referred to Biratnagar for further treatment from District Hospital Khadbari, informed Ganesh Chand, DSP at District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha. He sustained injuries on his head, legs and hands.
A group of 10 assailants led by local Bikash Rai had attacked Budhathoki after dragging him out of his residence while he was resting at night. All of them are on the run following the attack.
DSP Chand said that the security has been tightened in and around the municipality to nab the guilty and avert any untoward incidents. However the cause behind the attack is still unknown.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, said police.
Attack condemned
KATHMANDU: The FNJ chapters at The Himalayan Times and Annapurna Post have condemned the attack, demanding action against the guilty.
