HETAUDA: The number of tuberculosis patients has alarmingly increased in Makawanpur district by 30 percent in this fiscal year.
According to the statistics maintained at the Makawanpur District Health Office, there are 700 TB patients in the district. The DHO has mobilised health workers to launch DOT programme through Health Posts, Sub–Health Posts targeting the highly affected area.
Mostly locals of Phaparbari, Manhari, Basamadi, Chhatiwan, Padamapokhari, Bhaise, Bhimphedi VDCs and Hetauda Municipility are found to be affected by TB, according to the district health sources.
Kapil Dev Jha, Officer at DHO, said that the score of patients is on the rise due to lack of public awareness and reluctance to consult health workers about the disease on time.
