KATHMANDU: After receiving assurance from the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University that new officials would be appointed within nine days, all protest programmes at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) have been called off.
Prof Dr Mod Nath Marhatta, president of the Faculty Doctors’ Association, said they postponed the protest after the vice chancellor promised new officials would be appointed.
Doctors at TUTH were demanding that the vacant positions of Dean, two assistant Deans, campus chief and assistant campus chief be filled on the basis of seniority and work experience, not on the basis of political affiliation.
He further informed that the acting dean of Institute of Medicine Dr Arun Sayami was given retirement from his post today.
“If TU fails to appoint new officials within the deadline, we will continue our protests and declare new programmes,” said Marhatta.
