Annal Jyoti enter final

KATHMANDU: Hosts Annal Jyoti and New Diamond have set championship date in the girls’ section of the ninth Annal Jyoti Running Cup Inter-school Volleyball Tournament. Annal Jyoti saw off Samakhushi English Boarding (SEB) School 25-11, 25-20, 25-21 and New Diamond dispatched Angel Heart 25-11, 25-23, 25-10. Making it to the last four in the boys’ section were Annal Jyoti ‘A’, SEB and Gyan Niketan. Advancing to the semi-finals in the mini-boys’ section were Annal Jyoti ‘A’, Newton and Gyanodaya.

Nepal beat LBSCC

KATHMANDU: Nepali national cricket team beat Lal Bahadur Shastri Cricket Club by four wickets in a friendly Twenty20 cricket match in New Delhi on Thursday. Electing to bat first, LBSCC were all out for 95 and Nepal chased the total losing six wickets with four balls to spare. Shakti Gauchan and Binod Das claimed two wickets each for Nepal. Amrit Bhattarai also bagged one while five LBSCC batsmen were run out. In reply, Dipendra Chaudhary struck an unbeaten 39 off 41 balls to guide his team home. Skipper Paras Khadka contributed 18 and Basanta Regmi chipped in 12. The friendly match was part of the Nepal’s preparation for the ACC Twenty20 Cup slated for November 22-30 in the UAE.

NIMS, Toru in final

KATHMANDU: Toru and Niten Memorial School (NIMS) entered the final of the Gurukul Girls Football Tournament. Toru edged past Suvakamana 1-0 on a decisive goal from Nalina Maharjan while NIMS hammered Kathmandu Football Club 6-0. Dolma Sherpa, Bijaya Karki, Sangita Shrestha, Ranjita Koirala and Srijana Khadka scored a goal each for NIMS while another came courtesy an own goal. The final is on Saturday.

Namuna Volleyball

LALITPUR: Namuna English School is organising the sixth Namuna Running Shield Volleyball Tournament from Monday. The event features competition in two sections — boys’ and teachers. In all, 16 teams are in fray for the boys’ title while eight are for the teachers’ championship.

TIA Basketball

KATHMANDU: Trungram International Academy (TIA) HS School is organising the seventh TA Akira Cup Inter-school Basketball Tournament from Friday. A total of 27 teams — 19 in boys and nine in girls’ section — will take part in the tournament. Akira Electronics is the main sponsor of the tournament.
