BUTWAL: Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka Chamal Rajapakse has said that messages of Gautam Buddha would be materialised only by the overall development of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha on Sunday.
He said messages of the Lord Buddha should be spread across the world.
Addressing a programme organised on the occasion of the Buddha Jayanti in Lumbini today, Rajapakse said publicity of Buddha in the international level could help in the development of Lumbini.
He expressed confidence that the Visit Lumbini Year-2012 would help promote Lumbini in the international level.
He said Sri Lanka was always ready to join hands with Nepal for the development of Lumbini adding that both the countries share harmonious cultural relations.
He said that arrival of Sri Lankan tourists in Nepal could go up if peace and stability was maintained.
Rajapakse who arrived here on Saturday offered worships in Mayadevi Temple prior to the main function.
On the occasion, former Minister for Culture Gopal Kiranti said expected development of Lumbini was not done saying that factors not willing the development of Lumbini were active.
On the occasion, Lumbini Development Trust provided scholarships to 30 girl students of poor families.
