Six killed in separate lightning incidents

Lightning is one of the deadliest natural disasters in Nepal.

KATHMANDU: Six persons, including a minor, were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Khotang, Dolakha and Sindhupalchowk districts on Monday night.

Three persons lost their lives in Khotang after bolt hit them.

The victims are Mahanta Rai (60), Dhak Shumsher Rai (35) and Jaya Kumar Rai (50) of the district.

Likewise, 13-year-old girl Sarita Tamang was killed n Dolakha.

Similarly, two others were killed in Sindhupalchowk district yesterday night.

The deceased have been identified as Sangdorjee Tamang (23) of Ramche-1 and Ram Kumari Tamang (41) of Maneshwora-3, according to the Area Police Office, Bahrabise.

Gotimaya Tamang (55) of Mangkha and Asha Tamang (21) of Ramche -1 were also injured in the incident.

Lightning is one of the deadliest natural disasters in Nepal. According to the government records, over 129 people lost their lives due to lightning last year.
