KATHMANDU: Newly deposed president of Chitwan District Working Committee of the Nepali Congress Bikash Koirala has accused the party of sideling the genuine democrats.
Speaking at the Reporters Club in the Capital today, deposed Koirala came down heavily on the party alleging that the dissolution of the Chitwan District Working Committee goes against the democratic norms and values and the rule of law.
He went on to say that the party that advocates the rule of law and democracy, did not even give him an opportunity for furnishing clarification. It is against the party statute to dissolve the district committee directly through the Central Committee meeting bypassing the disciplinary committee.
Saying that the Nepali Congress is being dominated by pro-monarchy leaders, he stated that General Secretary Krishna Prasad Koirala did injustice to him in a biased manner without giving him an opportunity for clarifying the matter.
A Central Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress yesterday had decided to dissolve the Chitwan District Working Committee over the assault of Tarun Dal Chitwan Charman Shiva Paudel in Chitwan jail.
