Scores injured in bus mishap

BHAKTAPUR: At least a dozen passengers were injured when a bus heading to Kathmandu from Panauti met with an accident in Bhatedhukur of Bhaktapur on Friday.

According to an eye witness the accident occurred following the negligence of the driver. The injured were rushed to Bhaktapur Hospital while the condition of one of the passengers, Purushottam Saiju, is reported to be critical with injuries to his stomach and back. He has been referred to B & B Hospital in Kathmandu. According to police inspector Shree Ram Bhandari the driver and his assistants are at large after the accident.


Likewise, a woman was killed and two other women were injured when they were hit by a vehicle in Arunkhola, Nawalparasi on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Shahi. The injured are being treated in the local hospital in Danda. According to the Area Police Post Kawasoti, the incident occurred in the morning when the three were on their morning walk. The culprits are yet to be identified.

Locals and the kin of the deceased have obstructed the East West Highway protesting the incident. Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded on the road.


In yet another incident, Madhav Raj Kuikel was killed when a motor cycle and a truck collided in Sunsari.
