KAPILVASTU: A team of archaeologists and journalists who arrived here recently to conduct field study of the Lumbini has demanded further safety of the birthplace of the Lord Gautam Buddha.
They said for the protection of the birthplace of the Gautam Buddha and the historical, cultural and religious sites in Lumbini, security from the national level was essential.
The study team had come here with the initiative of the Ministry of Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture.
The places of excavation were archaeologically important and there was growing safety and security challenge for the locals and local security bodies.
Security persons must be mobilised and modern technical sets as CCTV, and communication sets fixed in the areas of the Mayadevi Temple and its vicinity, museum, Niglihawa, Aurakot, Ramgram, Devdaha, Sisniya, Gotihawa, Kudan, Tilaurakota, and others.
There are ancient well, wall, pillars and sculptors of deities of the Gautam Buhha's time in the Devdaha area.
However, the Lumbini Development Trust has mobilised 47 security guards for the protection of the Mayadevi Temple. Even a camp of the Armed Police Force has been set up on the precincts of Lumbini for two years.
