KATHMANDU: A 12-member masked gang on Wednesday evening robbed of four-month salary of two schools, amounting to Rs 1,604,200 in cash, while being carried to schools by two teachers from the bank, at knifepoint at Sukepokhari near Pokhari Higher Secondary School based in Chhatedhunga of Tehrathum district.
A 12-member gang of looters held Chudamani Ghimire, assistant of Pokhari Higher Secondary School and Loknath Pakuwal, teacher of Saraswoti Lower Secondary School, under control at knifepoint and made off with the cash amounting to Rs 1,604,200 at 7:45 pm yesterday, said Chhatedhunga-based out police post in-charge Gyanu Bhattarai quoting Ghimire.
The incident took place while Ghimire and Pakuwal were coming back to schools with the cash after withdrawing it from Nepal Bank Ltd based in the district headquarters, Myanglung, six hours walk south-west from the incident site.
Of the looted amount, Rs 12 lakh belongs to Pokhari Higher Secondary Schoola while the rest Rs 4 lakh belongs to Hoda-based Saraswoti Lower Secondary School.
The police have taken Ghimire and Pakuwa under control for investigation and launching a manhunt for the looters.
