LONDON: Sultry Katia Ivanova has finally found a way to make the public forget her past as Ronnie Wood’s girlfriend – by peeling off to become a Page 3 star, reported British daily The Sun on Sunday.
Tomorrow the 23-year-old Kazakhstan-born beauty makes her debut in The Sun and is hoping her charms will win over hordes of new fans.
Katia has kept a low profile since appearing on Celebrity Big Brother in 2010, just weeks after her turbulent split from the 65-year-old Rolling Stone.
After their stormy 18-month relationship ended, Katia then canoodled with Jonas Altberg — Swedish hitmaker Basshunter — on the reality TV show before disappearing off the scene.
She is now engaged to 27-year-old singer David Arthur — who is a full 38 years younger than guitarist Ronnie.
Katia told The Sun: “It has taken a long time for me to get my confidence back after being in that abusive relationship and coping with everybody’s reaction to what I did.
“But now I am settled and planning my wedding with a man I love who has given me the strength to start again.
“I did a couple of modelling shoots when I left Big Brother and absolutely adored it.
“I have a 32D chest so I clearly have the assets. I think being a Page 3 model will give me even more confidence.
“I really hope that people finally see me as somebody else instead of the ex of Ronnie Wood.
“David loves the fact I am a Page 3 girl — he can’t wait to see sexy pictures of me.
“But he’s amazed because I won’t go topless on holiday unless we are on our own.
“I don’t like the thought of men looking at my boobs. But I won’t be there when people are looking at me in The Sun.
“David says he wants to frame the pictures each time I am in the paper.”
Katia stepped into the spotlight after meeting Ronnie when she was working as a waitress in a lapdancing bar and he was out on a bender — she was 18 and he was 61.
He left his wife Jo after 23 years of marriage to live with the teenager but the relationship hit the rocks and alcoholic Ronnie had to go into rehab.
He spent one night in a cell after allegedly slapping Katia’s face and dragging her in a headlock.
And police were once called to the north London home they shared when it was claimed Katia threatened to kill herself during a 2am bust-up and Ronnie yelled at her: “F*** off home, you slut.” Katia said: “I was seen as the villain in it all. Everybody started hating me and I got really depressed.
“But I was the vulnerable, immature teenager and he was the man in his 60s. I thought I was mature but I wasn’t at all.
“The older I get, the more I regret it. I was daft and I hurt a lot of people in his family as well as my parents, which I feel awful about. I don’t know how it happened with Ronnie.
“I ended up on antidepressants. Ronnie knew that but he had his own problems.
“It was destructive. I felt scared to tell my friends it wasn’t going well and I was having to mix with older people all the time. I felt very alone. I don’t dislike him but it was a very silly thing to do.”
Katia was still taking antidepressants when she went into the Big Brother house.
She said: “I didn’t have anywhere to live after leaving Ronnie and I needed to find my feet again financially.
“I was scared being in Big Brother but I had already been through a hideous time — people couldn’t think any worse of me. It wasn’t a great experience. I ended up snogging someone in there. It makes me cringe to think about it.”
It was only after Katia met David at a party two years ago that her life finally changed for the better.
She said: “I was timid and nervous when I met him.
“I’d had all my confidence knocked out of me but David helped me so much. He found it amusing that I had been out with Ronnie.
“He didn’t understand why I had gone out with someone so much older — I’m not sure I do now, to be honest.
“I’d become terrified of everything but David taught me not to let people take advantage of me and encouraged me to do anything I wanted to do. It is wonderful to be with someone who is more my age. Ronnie did have the mentality of a teenager though, and he was hyperactive.
“David and I like to chill out. We live in north London and love going to Highgate Cemetery then lazing around in a park or going for meals.
“But we rarely drink — my life is so different now. A glass of red is about my limit. I don’t go out clubbing any more either.
“I am very settled. I’m looking forward to getting older with him.”
Katia is planning a romantic white wedding for next year and may get married in Scotland, near where Glaswegian David grew up.
Meanwhile she is concentrating on becoming a Page 3 girl. She said: “I didn’t have the courage to do this a couple of years ago.
“When I met David I didn’t have a job. I wanted one, but I was scared people might recognise me and abuse me in the workplace.
“Again, David supported me. I got a job in an interior design shop. He has made me believe in myself. He has really encouraged my dream to become a topless model. I am really excited. It is good to keep you life interesting.
“I don’t want to look back and regret. I want to show the photos to my grandchildren, to be able to look back and say that I did it.
“I have done a little bit of modelling in the past and I love having the photos taken.
“It is an exciting adventure and it will be great fun — I just hope the readers like what they see.”
