TERHTHUM: Incidents of human rights violation went up in Terahthum in 2010 compared to a year earlier, INSEC stated today.
At a programme held in Myanglung, the district headquarters, district representative of INSEC Chhatra Rimal informed that more than 50 incidents of human rights violation occurred in the district in 2010, whereas 2009 saw 40 incidents. Speaking at the programme, CDO Sitaram Karki urged rights activists to advocate for the victims. He alleged that the activists stand for the perpetrators rather than the victims.
Representatives of political parties, NGOs and civil society, among others, were present in the programme.
