KATHMANDU: Various human rights groups today said the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly without the promulgation of the constitution has disheartened the Nepali people. Issuing a press statement, civil society representatives they blamed irresponsible behaviour of the political leaders for the collapse of the CA, criticising the government for not doing enough to draft the constitution through the CA. The statement called for the formation of a national consensus government to ensure peace, security and social harmony.
National Human Rights Foundation also condemned the dissolution of the constitution-making body. It accused PM Bhattarai of not taking initiatives to save the CA and said collapse of the CA will cost the country dear. It asked political parties to form a national government to end the political deadlock.
National Youth Federation Nepal expressd concern about CA members’ failure to draft the constitution even within four years. Instability is the result of irresponsible behavior of political leaders, NYFN said in a statement, asking the parties to form a unity government and tide the country over the prevailing political crisis.
