KATHMANDU: What does a school need to become the real school of Nepal? It could be academic excellence, sportsmanship, talent and more and to prove this many students from various schools competed in the Real School of Nepal 2012, a national level competition.
Subodh Pradhanang, Sr Joint Manager — Marketing of Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd stated that Real School of Nepal 2012 “provides platform to the students to showcase their talent and self confidence”.
Different regional competitions were held and in the first two regional competitions Eureka Residential Higher Secondary School, Dharan from the Eastern Region and Gandaki Higher Secondary Boarding School, Pokhara from the Western Region have secured their places in the finals in Real School of Nepal 2012.
And the third regional and Central Region 1 competition was held at Budhanilkantha School, Kathmandu on September 5. Students from 24 schools competed to claim the their place in the finals. The competition had two categories — senior and junior with six participants from each school. Senior category had three competitions — Dance, Football Juggling and Extempore while junior had Painting, 3 Minutes to Fame and Score the Real Goal.
Students performed Tamang Selo, robot dance, b-boying for 3 Minutes to Fame and Dance competition categories in the hall while painting, goal scoring and football juggling were simultaneously taking place in the classrooms. And scoring many points from these competitions students of Budhanilkantha School became winners of the Central Region 1 and bagged a position in the finals.
As the judge of painting competition Kiran Manandhar, senior artist mentioned, “As an artist I am happy that Real School of Nepal has motivated students in different fields of art. We didn’t have these kind of competitions in our time.”
One of the participants, Mangeeta Gurung of Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute feels “it is a great platform to showcase our talent”.
Two more central regional competition 2 and 3 is to be held before the grand finale that will take place on September 25.
