GAIGHAT: Hilly roadways in Udaypur district have been disrupted again due to incessant rainfall for the past two days.
Continuous rainfall have damaged the roadways in the hilly areas bringing the regular traffic to a grinding halt, said Himali Transport Entrepreneurs' Association, Gaighat. Potholes have developed in different parts of the roadways.
Roadways linking Rauta, Salle, Khanbu and Dhablangtar with the district headquarters Gaighat have been blocked due to rain, local entrepreneur Khadga Magar said.
Similarly, Murkuchi-Bhutar, Katari- Bahunitar sections and the route linking Okhle, Rupatar to Katari are blocked.
Hilly roadways in the district get obstructed in the rainy season since they are not blacktopped yet. Disruption of roadways ahead of the festivals has increased the risk of shortage of foodstuffs in the rural areas, it is learnt.
