A team of cardiologists from India led by Dr Rabi Kasliwal had provided special treatment to Thapa

KATHMANDU: The health condition of former prime minister and chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Surya Bahadur Thapa has improved and he has been shifted to VIP ward from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Thapa was admitted to the Thapathali-based Norvic International Hospital after he suffered a cardiac-arrest on June 9.

According to Party Co-Spokesperson Kiran Giri, the octogenarian leader had taken meals and had a chat with his well-wishers on Tuesday evening.

A team of cardiologists from India led by Dr Rabi Kasliwal had provided special treatment to Thapa, keeping him in ventilator and fitted a pacemaker on him on Sunday morning.

The doctors involved in the treatment of Thapa have said that he could be discharged within a week if he witnesses improvement in his health in the present ratio.
