BIRATNAGAR: Protest staged by lecturers and staffers of the Purvanchal University (PU) against the unnecessary political interference in the appointment of the registrar continued today as well.
They have started their protest from Sunday demanding to appoint the registrar among the lecturers in the university. The agitation started when the administration began preparing to appoint a registrar from outside the university.
Protestors warned that they would stage stern protest programmes from December 5 if their demands are not addressed soon. On Sunday, they padlocked the registrar’s office. Today, both the lecturers and staffers tied black cloth in their arms on duty.
Krishna Poudel, General Secretary of the PU Teachers Association, said they had to continue their protest as the university has paid no heed to their demand.
