KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Constitutional Committee (CC) on Wednesday morning decided to take the thorny issues in the statute to the Constituent Assembly (CA) for voting.

After major political actors reached no where through intra- and inter-party, and bi-,tri- and quadri-lateral talks over the 117 contentious issues afflicting the constitution-drafting process, today’s CC-- which is actually mandated to prepare the first draft of the constitution-- took decision to this effect.

“Now CA will decide the future course of statute. Voting in CA full House will start from tomorrow, “said Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal member emerging from the meeting held at Singha Durbar.

But for the CPN-UML Chairman Jhalnath Khanal, parleys and negotiations among the political players will stay on "though we have decided to take the issues for voting in CA."

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel and Chairman of the Constitutional Committee(CC) Nilambar Acharya also seconded Khanal’s and Dahal’s words.

Only 19 days are left to meet the May 27 deadline for issuing the new constitution.
