KATHMANDU: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Saturday urged top leaders of major four political parties to create an environment for Constituent Assembly (CA) polls at the earliest.
Head of the State pressed top leaders of four major parties— UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) in a meeting at Sheetal Niwas this morning to create polls friendly environment taking disgruntled parties into confidence.
Emerging from the meet CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam informed that parties conveyed commitments with the President for the same.
33 political parties including the CPN-Maoist have been agitating against major parties’ agreement on election government and CA polls, and obstructing Election Commission (EC)’s voter’s registration drive.
Just yesterday, High Level Political Committee (HLPC) and Interim Election Council (IEC) had decided to hold discussions with the political parties opposing polls.
