KATHMANDU: President Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday conferred the ‘Suprabal Janasewashree’ medal on Toru Kondo, 92, a Japanese citizen at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas in recognition of his contribution to Nepali farmers for more than four decades. Earlier, Kondo was not able to attend the medal conferring ceremony held on Republic Day due to poor health. His contribution to the agriculture sector has strengthened the livelihood of farmers across the nation and has been acknowledged as noteworthy.
JICA gets new Chair
KATHMANDU: Dilli Ratna Shakya has been elected chairman of Nepal JICA Alumni Association. The new leadership comprises Kundan Raj Satyal as vice chairman, Ramchandra Bhusal as general secretary, Roshan Bajracharya as treasurer and Shanti Laxmi Shakya as secretary of the committee. The Alumni is a network of different personalities from various walks of life who have studied in Japan or have undergone training in their respective fields in that country. The network of alumni has been active for 40 years in promoting bilateral relations between the two countries and using knowledge acquired for the country’s development.
