"I cannot take decision on this matter single-handedly"

KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal,aka, Prachanda, reached out to Nepali Congress(NC) President Sushil Koirala on Monday morning to urge the latter to transform the incumbent Maoist-led government into a national consensus government.

As a part of ruling parities' decision to hold parleys with the opposition parties on transforming the current Baburam Bhattarai-led administration into a unity government, Dahal had knocked Koirala's door at Maharajgunj today.

The former PM Prachanda reached Koirala’s residence at a time when the opposition parties have said that they would topple the incumbent government through street protests and won't sit for talks with government until Baburam Bhattarai leaves the helm.

“ Sushil ji said parties need to discuss on other alternatives as well rather than hastily transforming the incumbent Maoist-led government into a unity government,” said Dahal after attending a half-an-hour meet with NC President Koirala.

“I cannot take decision on this matter single-handedly without consulting with other parties at this critical political juncture,” Dahal said quoting Koirala.

President has however already suggested that it would be better if the parties join the incumbent government.
