KATHMANDU: While rift in the UCPN-Maoist has led the party to an imminent split, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has started seeking ways to keep the party unity intact.
Besides making claims that he would do whatever it takes to keep the party united, Dahal has entrusted standing committee member and in-charge of International Bureau of the party, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, and vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha to initiate talks with the rival faction led by senior Vice-Chairman Mohan Baidhya.
Shrestha and Baidhya are holding parleys with the Maoists aligned to the hardliner faction today as an endeavor to save the party from imminent danger of splitting.
They will also hold talks with Mohan Baidhya today to clarify Dahal’s stance, sources confirmed.
Dahal is under pressure from the dissidents to step down for 'failing to save the Constituent Assembly'.
