KATHMANDU: Visiting Norwegian International Development Minister Hekai Helmas on Monday called on Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter's residence in Lazimpat.
Dahal's aide Shiva Khakurel told RSS that the Norwegian Minister inquired about Nepal's political development and reasons behind the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly and Nepal's future political course.
In response, Dahal responded to the Norwegian Minister saying that lack of consensus among the political parties was the major reason for CA's failure to promulgate the new constitution and added that federalism was the major bone of contention during the talks among the political parties, Khakurel quoted Dahal as saying.
The Maoist chief assured the Norwegian Minister that national unity government would be formed and constitution would be drafted through the next CA elections.
Dahal further said that Maoist party has vital role to end the present political deadlock and hailed the roles of the neighbouring countries for their roles in Nepal's progress and prosperity.
Dahal also said that the peace process has reached the final stage and remaining tasks of the peace process would be concluded soon.
On the occasion, Dahal informed the visiting Norwegian Minister that the government has announced the elections to the fresh CA on November 22 and it would be made a success.
During the meeting, issues related to contemporary politics and mutual interests were also discussed.
