Pokharel slams UCPN-Maoist

LAMJUNG: CPN-UML general secretary Ishwor Pokharel blamed the UCPN-Maoist for trying to capture the power through agitations.

Speaking to journalists at a press conference organised by Press Chautari Lamjung chapter in Beshisahar, Pokharel said that the purpose of the Maoist agitation is merely to capture the state. He added that the Maoists have been behaving childishly. He alleged that they had left the government in the nonsensical revolutionary behaviour but were regretting it now.

Suggesting the three roles for the Maoists, Pokharel said that the Maoists could play the role of the main opposition, join in the present government or form the government by gathering a majority in the House.

Pokharel challenged the Maoists to capture the state by the agitation, if they do not follow the proper process. He accused the former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of violating the interim constitution on the then Army Chief's issue. Civilian supremacy is not related to the party, he added. He said that the present government is the majority government. He stated that without consensus among the parties, the country would face anarchy.
