KATHMANDU: The government has expressed its deep concern over the accusations made by the UCPN-Maoist leaders saying the government was not serious on ending the political impasse hovering over the state.
The statement issued by PM’s press advisor Bishnu Rijal on Thursday reads that Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was in favour of talks to convince the Maoists despite his poor health condition. The PM even called on UPCN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Wednesday and requested him to end the protests to pave the way for the political consensus. He also requested Dahal to let the House pass the budget for the fiscal year 2009/10. In reply, Dahal said he would call the PM later, the statement added. The statement accused the Maoist leaders of lagging behind for consensus.
The statement has made it clear that the PM had the intention to end the political impasse through dialogue and he is ready for political flexibility for consensus.
