KATHMANDU: Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation, Nepal (PABSON) Mid-Region Committee is organising the third Mid-Region PABSON Inter-school Basketball Tournament from Monday. In all, 28 teams — 17 in boys’ and 11 in girls’ sections — are participating in the tournament, informed the organisers. Teams have been divided into four groups in both the categories.
Adventure Sports
KATHMANDU: Nepal Mountaineering Sports Federation (NMSF) is organising eight adventure sports to mark the World Tourism Day on September 27. Kathmandu will host 5km Road Race, Open Athletics, Mountain Bike Championship, Triathlon Championship and Sports Climbing, while Rafting and Canoeing will be held in Pokhara. The
Kathmandu-Taplejung and Kakadvitta-Kathmandu Motorcycle journey are also on the cards.
Premier enter final
KATHMANDU: Premier and Rosebud College set the boys’ title clash of the first Inter-school and College (+2) Basketball Tournament here on Thursday. Premier defeated Namgyal 34-26 with David Maharjan contributing 12 points for the winners, while Yogesh Maharjan posted 14 points as Rosebud cruised past Bridgewater 43-36.
Greenland advance
KATHMANDU: Hosts Greenland ‘A’, Himalayan Help Care Academy (HHCA), Forward and Angel’s Heart entered the senior boys’ quarter-finals of the seventh Kwiks Greenland Inter-school Basketball Championships here on Thursday. Greenland edged Golden Peak 48-46, while HHCA thrashed Mt Kailash 42-30. Likewise, Forward overcame Ganesh 37-25 and Angel’s Heart saw off Kathmandu Vidhyakunj 36-21. Greenland ‘A’ dispatched Valley Public 29-21, Ganesh pipped Golden Peak 22-20 and Innovative eased past Deep Jyoti 21-14 in junior boys’ matches.
New Zenith triumph
KATHMANDU: New Zenith, Wilson and Innovative School booked the quarter-final berths in the Valley View Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Thursday. New Zenith trounced Rato Bangala 66-35, Innovative overwhelmed New Summit 63-42 with Ajay Kunwar netting 28 points and Wilson thumped Rivera 33-12. Meanwhile, Nepal Ideal beat hosts Valley View 37-36.
