DAMAK: Ganesh Majhi (50) of Bihar, India was killed and 11 others were injured on Thursday, when a bus carrying a wedding party from India’s Phoolbari to Morang’s Govindapur met with an accident at Gauradaha-5. The bride and bridegroom sustained minor injuries, informed Inspector Hari Khatiwada. The injured — Narayan Giri of Maharanijhoda-5, Jhapa, Kalu Majhi of Rajgadh-3, Tara Giri of Panchgachhi, head constable Kumar Rai of India’s Purniya, Chaudhary Lal Ganesh of India’s Tawara, Kripananda Giri, Mahendra Giri, Hima Kumari Giri, Ganga Lal Majhi of Bhawanipur — are receiving treatment in Damak Hospital and BPKHS in Dharan.
MYAGDI : Bodies of four persons who were killed when debris fell on them at the construction site of Kagbeni-Jhaite road section on Wednesday, were exhumed on Thursday morning. Police said the deceased have been identified as Jhalak Majhi (28), Dhruba Majhi (29) Jit Bahadur Rana (23) and Sunil Kumar Chaudhari (26).
DAMAULI : Bandh enforcers of Joint Struggle Committee on Thursday thrashed Prem Prasad Poudel, Tanahun chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists and Press Chauthari Tanahun chairman Prakashchandra Bhattarai of Belchautara-8, while they were riding to Dulegauda on their motorcycle to collect news. Chairman Poudel informed that an FIR identifying the attackers has been filed. Various media organisations condemned the attack and demanded that the culprits be brought to book.
BIRATNAGAR: Jit Bahadur Khawas (32) of Itahari-7 Sunsari died when a tractor coming from the opposite direction hit his motorcycle at Sundarpur-8, Morang on Wednesday night. Motorcycle rider Bikram Chaudhari and another person who was on the motorcycle were critically injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment at BPKIHS, Dharan, police said.
BIRATNAGAR: Property worth over Rs 5.6 million was gutted when fire engulfed Khadbari-based Smriti Electronics on Wednesday night. Police said the fire started due to short-circuit. Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, Nepali Army and locals extinguished the fire. —
