LONDON: Summer in the United Kingdom has been a total washout so, to hit back against the unseasonal chill, Destination Conwy has developed a warm ice cream. They have teamed up with clever confectioners Baravellis to make a warming ice cream that is traditional Welsh cake flavour. The unusual treat is made using spices that are used in the baking of Welsh cakes, like nutmeg and cinnamon. The unique mix of spices creates a warming feeling, despite the fact that the ice cream is frozen. The special recipe took over a month to create.
Robotic ‘cheetah’ faster than Bolt
Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt’s current record of 27.8 miles per hour is the fastest a man has ever run, but the Pentagon-funded robot, dubbed Cheetah, managed to run at the speed of 28.3mph. The Cheetah — a quadrupedal machine built by Boston Dynamics and backed by Darpa, the US Defence Department’s research division 6 — not only topped the Olympic 100m and 200m champion’s record-setting time, it also beat its previous top speed of 18mph. According to the US Defence Department Cheetah is being developed for use on terrain where conventional wheels and tracks would struggle.
Bad Piggies coming soon
Bad Piggies, the sequel to Angry Birds, will be released later this month, games company Rovio has announced. The new game will see the player try to help the pigs, who were the villains of Angry Birds, with their mission to collect eggs. Rovio says Bad Piggies is “the launch of a new franchise”.
The Finnish games developer has seen its hit title, Angry Birds, downloaded more than one billion times on a variety of platforms and has expanded the brand to include soft toys, animated television shows and even theme parks. Several variations of the Angry Birds game have been released since the game made its debut in late 2009.
